Colours

The colour of a lightsaber in the Star Wars universe is determined by the Kyber crystal used to construct it, which resonates with the Force and adopts a specific hue based on the user's connection to it.

While some colours have established meanings within the lore, such as red for the dark side and blue for Jedi Guardians, the significance of other colours like orange, cyan, magenta, and indigo is less defined. 

The most common colours and their associated meanings are as follows:

• Blue: Symbolises justice, loyalty, and protection, often wielded by Jedi Guardians.It is one of the most recognizable colors, famously used by Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Luke Skywalker.

• Green: Associated with harmony, peace, diplomacy, and spirituality, commonly wielded by Jedi Consulars. Notable users include Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Luke Skywalker.

• Red: Represents power, aggression, and the dark side of the Force. Sith and dark side users achieve this color by "bleeding" a kyber crystal through intense negative emotions like hate and fear.

• Purple: A rare color synonymous with Jedi Master Mace Windu, who requested the blade's color from George Lucas. It is often interpreted as combining the passion of red with the calm of blue, symbolizing moral ambiguity and an affinity with both sides of the Force.

• Yellow: Represents guardianship and protection, primarily associated with the Jedi Temple Guards who wield double-bladed yellow lightsaber pikes. It has also been wielded by characters like Asajj Ventress and Ahsoka Tano.

• White: Symbolises purity, neutrality, and the absence of a crystal, often representing a purified Kyber crystal that was once red and tainted by the dark side. Ahsoka Tano is a prominent user of white lightsabers having purified crystals from fallen Inquisitors.

• Black (Darksaber): A unique, one-of-a-kind blade created by the Mandalorian warrior Tal Vizsla. It represents leadership and power within Mandalorian culture, with its rightful owner determined by combat. It has been wielded by characters like Darth Maul and Moff Gideon.

Other colors include:

• Orange: A newer addition, featured in games like Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, and used by characters like Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati in the series Ahsoka. Its significance is not fully established in the wider canon.

• Cyan: A less common color, seen in the lightsaber of Jedi Master Kit Fisto, representing diplomacy and negotiation.

• Magenta and Indigo: Introduced in the game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, these colours are new canon and therefore their specific meanings are currently unknown.
